I’ve been so excited by the kind of responses I got from this weekend’s post about doing an inductive study. And honestly, after the horrors of yesterday’s news, we need a decolonized and refreshed vision of Jesus as much or more than ever… so I’m following my gut and here we go!
(drumroll please…)
By the powers of Zoom, I’ll be doing something I’ve never done: leading an inductive study across time zones and with folks that I’ve been studying with across decades (and many of you that I’ve never studied with before)!
Here are the details:
- Meet weekly
- 90-minute commitment, but there will probably be “after hours” discussions for those who want to stay longer
- Inductive Style. Download my guide for the method if you’re unfamiliar. It can seem weird at first, but it’s critical in getting our own projections off the text and letting the beauty of its ancientness breathe truth.
- We will record each session for download from thirtysixwords.com. I won’t leave them up there forever, and really the interaction is what makes this possible, so if you are joining, please make every effort to stick with it.
- We’ll do Luke 1-4 sequentially, probably 8-10 weeks, I haven’t finalized the exact breakdown of passages but will do every word straight through. (Yes I know this is the Christmas stuff, and that is part of the reason why I’m doing it. We need to take the inauguration of the Messiah out of the holly and the ivy to see Him clear.
